Lauren and Philip Marriott

PHOTOGRAPHY: Mandie Charlton, Shutterbrugs Photography

After growing up attending the same church, fourteen-year-olds Lauren and Philip fell in love. They would date until their breakup on June 13. In time this date would prove to be fateful, as the night of their engagement in 2009. The proposal was made after an elaborate scavenger hunt that ended with Lauren finding Philip waiting by the lake at her family cottage. The couple settled on a black and white colour scheme, with a pop of pink that fit well with one of the first things they booked, their venue. Luckily for the couple who found budgeting for the big day very difficult, Phillip was able to cut some costs by hiring himself. Through his company, Philip Marriott Design, he created their wedding stationary. “The best visual part of the wedding was all of the details that Philip put into making our day perfect,” says his bride. “He designed every last detail from the programs to the table cards.”
